When choosing a new coat for my children, it is nearly always a practical decision and finding the right winter coat for my seven year old in particular means that it has to tick a lot of boxes for me. It has to be warm first and foremost but also not too long that it stops her climbing trees but not too short that she will feel a chill. It needs to have a good hood and deep enough pockets to pop in some gloves plus a fastening that is quick and easy to do up by herself. Oh and it definitely has to be machine washable to be able to cope with all the climbing up trees that is going to be had!
If you asked my daughter what she looks for in a new coat, I suspect her checklist might be shorter. In fact I am quite sure that it would consist of one thing and that’s a nice colour! So when the lovely people over at House of Fraser got in touch asking if we would like to choose a little something from their range of kids coats, I was interested to take a look and see if we could find something that we would both agree on!
As it turned out, the only problem really was that we were spoilt for choice as House of Fraser have a great range of coats and jackets. From casual jackets to fancy frock coats right through to practical padded coats and waterproof parkas. In the end though we decided on this lovely Mango Girls Water Repellent Quilted Jacket which ticked all my boxes and more. I’ve noticed that it has since been added to the sale so it is also a bargain to boot now!
This Mango padded coat has elasticated cuffs to keep her nice and cosy but it is also water repellent. It has a lovely big hood and two pockets and fastens with a nice sturdy zip. It comes in three different colours – navy, pink and purple and my daughter chose the purple version. It’s a lovely soft shade of purple with an almost pearl like sheen. It really is very pretty but also practical too. It can even go in the washing machine! I think it is safe to say that we are both very happy with her new coat!
